Hussein Chalayan Laser Dresses

When looking into Hussein Chalayan I stummbled among his Laser Creations. He smothered the garments with crystals and shinned red lasers onto them with creates a reflection. the reflection of the lasers almost become the garment as it gives it a shape and structure. I think that reflections are so much more affective than the LED dresses I have previously looked at. I love  the idea of lasers bouncing off of the garments which can also be moved to change the shape and structure of the garment which creates an illusion. I would love to use this idea within my final garment.

I love how something as precious as the crystals which almost looks like stars glistening in the sky are mixed with something so harsh as the lasers. It makes the crystals look like shooting stars falling form the sky. The first thing that comes into my mind when seeing this is outer space.

The intensity and sharp lines of the lasers make your eyes follow them into the garment. Its as if the lasers are pointing at certain points of the garment and guides your eyes towards them. This is a great way to draw the audiences attention and make a garment stand out.

I love the angles the lasers create, this collection has made me alot of interested in laser lights and will continue this within my research.
